Gardena VeggieCut Harvest Knife with Belt Holster
For the harvest cuts a vegetable garden asks for all season: pepper stems, okra pods, squash, lettuce. The VeggieCut is a small knife with a sickle-shaped stainless steel blade, and Gardena says even thicker vegetables such as courgettes (zucchini) come off with one cut.
Cutting is kinder to the plant than pulling. Clemson Extension notes that pepper stems are brittle and says to cut them instead of pulling, to avoid breaking branches. Maryland Extension suggests gloves and clippers or a knife for okra, since most plants are spiny.
The knife rides in a belt holster between rows, and Gardena lists an integrated sharpener for honing the blade. The blade is suitable for food contact and the knife is dishwasher safe; an eyelet in the handle hangs it on a hook in the kitchen.
