Gardena AquaZoom Compact Oscillating Sprinkler on Metal Spike
For watering a seedbed, a patch of greens or a lawn from one spot. The sprinkler pushes into the ground on its metal spike and sweeps a fan of water back and forth across the area.
Gardena lists a spray range of 10 to 60 feet and calls it frost proof. Its two published coverage figures differ, 2,300 square feet in the title and 2,400 in the specs, so plan on the smaller one.
Overhead water suits shallow-sown crops while they come up. University of Maryland Extension waters carrots lightly each day in dry weather until the plants are established, and University of Minnesota Extension says lightly sprinkling a crusted radish bed may help. It is the wrong tool for squash: the same Minnesota guidance waters squash and pumpkins at the soil and says not to use a sprinkler.
