Catalogna Gigante Di Chioggia while similar to Catalogna Frastigliate in leaf shape, somewhat similar in taste and often referred to as "Italian Dandelion", has white stems rather than green ones. This variety is also an erect chicory plant with elongated, very serrated, glossy green leaves. Not only the tender leaves can be eaten, but also the shoots which are similar to asparagus which can be eaten boiled, in salads, or in soups. They are picked while still tender as they sprout. Sowing can be staggered at different times, to extend the growing to a long harvest season. Untreated seed.
