Squash Seeds, Bennings Green Tint Scallop

Bennings Green Tint is one of those varieties that is just there because it has always been a good variety. Bennings has been in production since at least 1914. The fruit are smaller than the Italian White Bush Scallop with a very pale green skin and flesh until they are near maturity (oversize for consumption as fresh etc.) and have a delicate Scallop Squash flavor. The variety is moderately uniform in shape and size of fruit, but with moderate variation in plant shape. I started growing this when I was a child in the 1960s. We mix this into our mixed summer squash boxes along with the more unusual varieties found on our website when we sell summer squash. Early producer, usually near 43 days. Bush habit makes it convenient and suitable for small home garden and market growers. California seed. Untreated seed.
