Leek Seeds, Winter Giant

Winter Giant is a classic variety that is optimized for late season production with picking as an overwinter variety or as a storage variety. The shank of this leek is pure white, medium long to long and makes an excellent market variety. Not quite as straight a base as the modern hybrids for machine cleaning, but excellent for market production. The leaves of the leek are blue green color, but not quite as blue as Blue Solaize. It is considered to be quite cold-tolerant and can be planted in either short season areas or late for harvest during the winter time. Has a delicate onion-like flavor. This is a new variety to our business despite its impeccable Heirloom credentials and the seed is from our Italian suppliers.
