An Italian chicory that produces abundant, broad leaves, ruffled and wavy, pale green colored, forming a 'ball' like head lettuce, quite compact, very heavy. Sow at different intervals to extend the harvest season. Prized for being easily preserved and its delightful texture and flavor. Most often harvested as shown by cutting the rosette-shaped head just below the soil level. Untreated seed.
