A local pepper selected from a native New Mexico chile years ago. Ripens red and though not as uniform as most 'improved' varieties it has a pungent heat that makes it still the most popular heirloom chile of New Mexico, and perhaps the hottest. Pods are 5 to 7 inches in length to 1 to 2 inches in width. Heat level ranging from 15-30,000 scovilles. Ripens from green to red. Untreated seed.
