An old open pollinated cultivar available from D. Landreth, who offers this description; "Grown in the US since 1850, this melon probably originated in Asia Minor near the town of Kassabeh". Popular in California and the Southwest. The tough wrinkled skin matures to a golden yellow. Fruits weigh 7-8 lb. Flesh is white and aromatic with a spicy flavor. Keeps well for months. Excellent for hot, dry regions. UNTREATED.
