This catalogna chicory forms voluminous heads with long, indented leaves, dark green with pronounced white ribs. Used by some chefs as 'asparagus chicory' as the very succulent stems are tasty.. At the base of the heads short, wide cusps grow, giving it a shape similar to a pine cone, and so it is often referred to by many Italian-Americans also as 'Pine Cone Chicory'. UNTREATED
