Description

An ancient strain of Portuguese or Tronchuda Kale grown for the fleshy petioles and broad midribs of the leaves eaten like celery. Grows very much like headed cabbage and can also be used much the same. Many folks find this to be superior to many common kales or collards. Very productive. UNTREATED.

Mawrter of Philly Burbs Tronchuda Cabbage/Portuguese Kale
Among the best veggies I've ever planted/eaten. Non-fussy, incredibly productive and delicious. Would recommend it to anyone - newbie to experienced gardener. That I've never seen it in any grocery store, ethnic foods store, gourmet shop, etc. is just a bonus. I'd give it an 11/10 if that were possible!

Portuguese Cabbage is a tender, delicious, loose-leaf cabbage that's BETTER than cabbage! I saute it just like kale, but it's really delicious raw, too. It's a tasty, beautiful, must-have heirloom that deserves a place of honor in your garden!
