Description

[VAS01] An heirloom French asparagus dating back to the 1700's that is quite early yet with very large spears. These have a wonderful round tip and purplish scales, also a fine selection for blanching with a sweet taste. Sometimes also called "White Asparagus of Argenteuil", 'Precoce d'argenteuil', or 'Purple Dutch'. Very good yields once established. UNTREATED

100% awsome. very hearty northern type of early blanching asparagus! High germination rate, makes spears thick as my fingers.

I bought these same exact seed for three seasons in a row. Often there is a 99% germination rate. I have sold the leftovers of both the previous batches to neighbors. They germinate under grass and shoot up when mowed in june! Much fatter than mary washington and heartier in cold weather. I'm getting more to make a headge because it grows so well when direct seeded.
