BRUSSELS SPROUTS BRUSSELS SPROUTS

(350 seeds avg / gram) Plant seeds 1/4-1/2" deep. Transplant or thin small plants to 15-18? apart in rows 32-36" apart. Transplants can be started in April for May planting. Transplant after 4-6 weeks. Use a starter fertilizer, soaking the root ball thoroughly prior to transplanting. Direct seed in late spring, as seedlings can tolerate a light frost. Brussel Sprouts can be direct seeded up until mid-late June for a continuous harvest. Soil temperature should be 21-26C (70-80F) for optimal germination in 4-7 days.

(100 days) This was the chief commercial sprout until the more uniform hybrids came along. Heavy set of firm sprouts over an extended period. Compact 20-24" plants yield 50-100 dark-green 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" sprouts. Best for late fall and winter harvests as frosts will improve the flavor. 4 grams 1,400 seeds avg. - $2.39
